Swedish people

Viewed through non-swedish eyes, Swedish people in the countryside, compared to people in other western countries, are friendlier, softer, more helpful, and more social. Also more cautious and traditional.

That softness and friendliness make the culture here feel far less harsh and raw than in many other countries, which is very pleasant. On the other hand, for non-swedish people, it may seem somewhat tame and old-fashioned.

Hurry is hardly ever encountered here. The nice thing about this is that one also become less stressed oneself. The other side, of course, is that someone who has a job to do at your house, is also not in a hurry.

Yet somehow everything is well organized here, the roads are good, the basic facilities all work, the administrative sector functions, and the garbage is neatly sorted and collected. Yes, most of the work is indeed done by all the “new Swedes” who have immigrated in large numbers in recent years.

Health care is a complete melting pot of all the cultures of the world. That’s just as well because there is a shortage of general practitioners, hospital doctors, dentists, elderly care workers, etc. So anyone who can help is welcome.
